In April 2020, Intercollegiate Studies Institute and the Heritage Foundation hosted a discussion with Mr. Arthur Milikh and Prof. Hadley Arkes. Mr. Milikh is the associate director of The Heritage Foundation’s B. Kenneth Simon Center for American Studies and Prof. Arkes is the founder and director of the James Wilson Institue. Prof. Arkes and Mr. Milikh discussed their own concepts of how free speech ought to be properly understood and how the broadly conservative movement ought to approach the issue. They explore the relationship between the constitutional right to free speech and natural law as well as the pitfalls of moral relativism and the drift toward labeling certain topics "hate speech" in the current dialogue surrounding free speech.
