"Friends of Nino" Panel
We were very pleased to host the "Friends of Nino" panel on Friday, April 29. Hadley Arkes was joined by Prof. John Baker, Paul Clement, Noel Francisco, Gene Schaerr, Prof. Michael Uhlmann, and Edward Whelan. Beginning in the summer of 1987, just after Justice Scalia's first term on the Supreme Court, Prof. Baker regularly co-taught with the Justice; Mr. Clement clerked for Justice Scalia during the 1993-94 term; Mr. Francisco clerked for Justice Scalia during the 1997-98 term; Mr. Schaerr clerked for Justice Scalia during the 1986-87 term. Prof. Uhlmann has been a friend of the Justice's for nearly half-a-century, and served with him as Assistant Attorney General during the Ford administration; Mr. Whelan clerked for Justice Scalia during the 1991-92 term.
We gathered at our usual spot, the University Club of Washington D.C., at 5:30pm, and enjoyed hearing the touchingly personal and hilarious stories whch the panelists had to offer. We were gratified to celebrate such a great man, and thank all those who participated in helping to make it such a special evening.
