Ethan Szumanski is currently a Special Counsel in the Special Litigation Division of the Office of the Attorney General of Texas. As Special Counsel, Ethan litigates Texas’s most significant cases involving constitutional, statutory, and public policy questions. He was a research assistant for Professor Josh Blackman and previously interned with the Honorable Jennifer Walker Elrod of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Honorable David Hittner of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. In August of 2024, Ethan will clerk for the Honorable Drew B. Tipton of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and immediately afterward, he will clerk for the Honorable Edith H. Jones of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Ethan graduated summa cum laude from South Texas College of Law Houston as the salutatorian of his class. During law school, Ethan served as a member of South Texas Law Review. He is a member of the Order of the Coif and the National Order of Barristers. He holds his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Thomas Edison State University (2018).
