Reed Smith is the Director of Litigation at Christian Legal Society, where he specializes in religious liberty litigation. Before joining CLS, Reed practiced as counsel at First Liberty Institute, where he worked on a range of religious liberty matters, and as an associate at Ahmad Zavitsanos, a Chambers-rated commercial litigation boutique, where he managed high-stakes commercial and intellectual property litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. Before going into private practice, Reed clerked for Judge Catharina Haynes at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Paul Stickney at the Northern District of Texas, and James Ho at the Texas Office of the Solicitor General. Prior to law school, Reed served as a journeyman missionary to Poland through the International Mission Board. Reed received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served was an editor of the Virginia Law Review, and his B.A. from the University of Florida.
